We have built an experienced and loyal workforce. Although we do function as a team, our management staff take direct responsibility for specific aspects of our business, which maintains our commitment to service and gives clients complete peace of mind at all times.

Alan Downs
Managing Director
Alan Downs has over 35 years experience within the construction industry predominantly within the groundwork’s and RC sector both as sub contract and main contract basis.
Initially commencing his carer through the site engineering route and progressing to Contracts Manager.
Alan has been involved in some of the countries prestigious multi-million pound projects enabling Obsidian to benefit from his vast construction knowledge.

David Spurrell
Commercial Manager
David Spurrell BSc (Hons), has over 15 years’ experience in all areas of Quantity Surveying and Commercial management in the Housing, Regeneration and Civil Engineering sectors, having worked with a range of Clients from local Charities and Councils, to national Main Contractors and Government bodies such as The Environment Agency on a number of award winning projects.
David’s experience allows Obsidian to provide cost affective solutions to our Clients and accurate cost forecasting/planning as many of our Clients now require, with a professional and friendly manner.

Richard Winchester
Site Manager
Richard Winchester has been a dedicated professional in the construction industry since the age of 16, with a focus on the reinforced concrete sector. He has contributed to some of the UK’s most prestigious projects, including the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, Medway Crossing Bridge, and Ebbsfleet International Station.
Richard’s extensive experience and deep understanding of the industry enable Obsidian to confidently undertake and excel in the most intricate projects.
In addition to his expertise in reinforced concrete, Richard has expanded his skills to include plant purchasing and hire, as well as a growing interest in the mechanical sectors of construction.
